Abstract

[Obesity is a complex chronic disease with both genetic and environmental risk factors. It is associated with a range of comorbidities, increasing the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and the development of certain cancers, in addition to impairing reproductive and bone health. In children and adolescents, the World Health Organization (WHO) notes that there is also an increased risk of poor academic performance and psychosocial consequences, such as stigma and bullying.]
