Use of latex gloves to replace pacifiers in Baby-Friendly Hospitals
Main Article Content
Abstract
Aim: To reflect and discuss the use of pacifier made with glove in the neonatal units. Methods: This is a descriptive study based on a Facebook page, whose posts were analyzed using the content analysis technique described by Bardin. Results: From the analysis of the data, the following categories were established: surprise and indignation; (in)security and harm with the use of devices; need for discussion on the subject and the addiction of devices after hospital discharge. Conclusions: The use of a pacifier made from a latex glove is a reality in neonatal units, as a way of replacing the conventional pacifier to relieve pain and maternal absence that needs to be reviewed.
