Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the impact of different predictive equations of basal metabolic rate in federated futsal practitioners children. Methods: A total of 41 male players (n=41) of the categories sub 7 to 9 obtained the body weight, height and skinfold to calculate the body mass index and fat percentage. It was calculated the basal metabolic rate from two predictive equations for children 310 years. Nonparametric tests were used (p <0.05) to conduct inferential analyzes. Results: Regarding nutritional status federated children were classified as overweight, but with fat percentage appropriate for the age group. The basal metabolic rate values differed significantly by 3%, with an overestimation from the Henry equation and Ress (1991). Conclusions: It is advised caution to obtain the basal metabolic rate federated futsal children when using predictive equations should not use them as equivalent, primarily to compute the total energy expenditure.
