GUIDE FOR ORIENTING REVIEWERS IN THE ANALYSIS OF MANUSCRIPTS
- Verify whether the manuscript falls into one of the following classifications:
- Original Article - Quantitative
- Original Article - Qualitative
- Original Article - Mixed Methods
- Systematic Literature Review
- Integrative Literature Review
- Narrative Literature Review
- Case Report
- Brief Communication
- Verify the following ethical aspects listed below:
(1) Approval by the Research Ethics Committee (REC) or exemption from approval.
(2) Application of the Informed Consent Form (ICF), when necessary.
- Determine whether the article is of high, medium, or low relevance.
- Items to be considered during the analysis of the article:
(1) Whether the article falls within the scope of the Journal
(2) Whether the title is adequate for the study.
(3) Whether the justification for the research, the description of the objectives, and the relevance of the study are clearly presented.
(4) Whether the text is well written, has a logical sequence, uses appropriate vocabulary, and whether the data are accurate and appropriate.
(5) Whether the literature review is comprehensive, pertinent, and up to date.
(6) Whether the method is appropriate to the objectives of the study.
(7) Whether it contains a description of the methodology used.
(8) Whether the data analysis is appropriate to the objectives and design of the study.
(9) Whether the results are presented with rigor and clarity.
(10) Whether the discussion and conclusion are consistent with the development and findings of the study.
(11) Whether the references reflect the content cited, are current and pertinent to the topic, and comply with the journal's standards (Vancouver).
(12) Whether the tables and figures contribute to the understanding of the text and to the overall quality of the article.
(13) Whether the values in the tables are consistent with the text and correctly represent relative and absolute values.
(14) Whether the abstract reflects the text.
- Record the review of the manuscript in the Open Journal Systems (OJS):
Accept.
Resubmit for reassessment after modifications.
Reject.
- Provide information in the designated space:
Comments for the author and the editor, clearly specifying the modifications suggested to the author.
Comments for the editor only, indicating whether the reviewer wishes to remain anonymous or disclose their identity.
