Spinal cord schistosomiasis

Abstract
Schistosomiasis is one of the most important endemic diseases in Brazil, with an approximate prevalence of 10% of the population. Any organ may be involved in ectopic forms of the disease. In the following pages will be reported a case of schistosomiasis with spinal cord involvement. The diagnosis was established by clinical signs plus the presence of Schistosoma
mansoni in stool examinations. The treatment was performed for three days with praziquantel.
