Papular-purpuric “gloves and socks” syndrome: case report
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: The popular-purpuric “gloves and socks” syndrome (PPGSS) is an acute infection caused by parvovirus B19, characterized by predominantly distal papular-purpuric rash distributed in hands and feet, similar to gloves and socks, accompanied by fever and oral lesions. Case description: This is the case of a teenager who sought service with a complaint of fever, oral lesions, presence of petechiae on hands and feet, delimited to wrists and elbows, associated with intense pruritus, with good evolution after 7 days of hospitalization. Besides the parvovirus B19 IgM, herpes simplex and Epstein Barr IgM and IgG positive were identified in the diagnostic investigation. Conclusion: PPGSS is usually self-limited, with resolution between 7 to 14 days, and its recognition is fundamental, in order to avoid unnecessary exams and treatment.
